Studs and I'm not talking about my boyfriend!

Studs. They are everywhere and living the dream on our clutches, leather jackets, our chuck taylor's and even on our cocktail dresses! I love this look! I feel a little rock n' roll but still very I chic! This trend is all about embracing the 'stud' on our everyday items! I mean seriously who wouldn't want to wear a a leather jacket bedazzled with studs on the collar?

model as muse

I bought a coffee table book a few months ago...While in NY over the summer I dragged my fiance to the Met. While scanning the list of exhibitions I saw it in black and white. The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion. My heart instantly started beating faster and a fashion tear was brought to my eye...yes, really a tear! The exhibit was absolutely amazing! It was a visual tour of fashion and its muse. Models. To be able to see these moments in fashion history really brought my love to a whole new level! The Model as Muse highlighted all the models that have advanced fashion. My two favorites were present, Jessica Stam and Gemma Ward-amazing! So you see I bought this coffee table, and I just love it! Check out the site for pictures!!!!! www.metmuseum.org/

long sleeves...don't mind if i do!

All the rage is long sleeve mini dresses! I am really loving the idea of this, first of all it will be really beneficial on those chilly nights out and Second will be a great alternative to the office cardigan!---well i don't go to an office so who am I kidding here, all of you that go to a office! I have been holding onto an amazing long sleeve dress for over 2 years, but it was an awkward length, so it remained unworn. Now I think that I will go ahead and get the piece altered.....so exciting. Great with tights, leggings or even over jeans ( depending on length)! Loving the cooler day's and chilly nights!

rough and stuff with my afro...Louis Vuitton?

Ok...so I guess that we can expect Afros are coming back in season...if Marc Jacobs is doing it for Paris Fashion Week I am going assume that we may see a revival of this 70's hairstyle! My sister rocks one so I guess she must be a muse:) The Louis Vuitton show also featured printed LV spandex bicycle shorts under short dresses and skirts? I am a little hesitant on the bike short thing....I personally do not want 3 muffin tops... one around the top and two peeking out below...not so cute :{ The runway was filled with over sized messenger bags, muted colors and ill fitting clothes that were thrown together. This show has left me feeling confident in my current closet and not ready to jump on the bicycle short band wagon.

As I walked into Forever21 the other day I suddenly realized that I actually stepped into the jungle! It appeared that every other rack was leopard inspired...every color was included from the classic tan and black to the very non-traditional green leopard. I have never seen a green hued leopard, but I'm sure that I would be equally terrified! The leopard-print jacket is such a fun way to add a print to your everyday look. The fit that I like best is the 3/4 sleeve cropped version in the classic tan and black color! This 50's inspired garment looks great for a night out on the town, a day at the office and even for running errands. So the next time your looking for something playful...slip into your leopard-print jacket and let the fun begin! meow!

Chanel meet Marie

Paris fashion week would not be complete without Karl Lagerfeld's ingenious imagination! His interpretation of Marie Antoinette's shepherdess days was stunning, dreamlike, and above all embodied Coco Chanel. If living on a farm meant that I could frolic around in straw colored tweed suit, crocheted dresses, taffeta and lace then sign me up! These looks are so wearable that even on the country themed runway looked effortless, chic, and maybe, just maybe, I really could milk a cow. Coco Country...

black on black

I know that this will appeal to all the new yorkers out there, but I think that the west coast is finally ready to give in to this sleek trend! Black on the balck is not only chic, but also very flattering for different body types. My number one concern about this trend is making sure that the black pieces are not 'dingy' in color. Its ok for the pieces to have different textures (encouraged) but should be similar shades of black. Piecing together black can be tricky, because you don't want to look too gothic, but lets admit to our selfs that "yes, i want to look a little rock n' roll!" To avoid a kiss revival don't go chunky with your footwear and stick with a body hugging bottom, yes, this means leggings, tights or straight leg denim! Grommets and studs accompany this look perfectly so if you don't have embellished tunics, tops or dresses add cuffs, bracelets or bangles to get the look. Top this look off with a straight and sleek hairstyle a smoky eye and a pair of ankle booties.

you smell good

I do love kate moss, i love her style, the fact that she is a 5'7" supermodel, her London look but above all I am loving that she is the face for YSL PARISIENNE perfume! It smells delicious, not in a food I want to eat it kind of way, but in the way people linger a little too long after a hug! To me it smells like a female version of a Tom Ford cologne. Definitely not your grandmas perfume!

the little black dress

We all have one in our closet, but for most of us it is probably crammed in the back alongside that prom dress looking thing waiting for a special occasion to be worn...Try forgetting about pairing the LBD with formal affairs and pair with ankle booties, a chunky necklace and a denim jacket! The LBD is great for wearing to the office too! Paired with tights, a low heel and a belted cardigan...waaa laaa a great alternative to slacks! Basically this item that is in the very depths of our closets can be effortlessly put together, chic and bring some fashion variety into our lives!

out with the old in with the new...season!

It has become clear that summer is over:( I woke up to frosty windows on my car and the overwhelming desire to dress in all things warm and fuzzy! This fall/winter is all about taking what you already own and reinventing the item to feel like new again! This can be a challenge, but I know that you can do it. Like many of you I store my clothes in bins for half of the year when I wont be wearing it. This takes some effort on my part but it also is a great opportunity for me to forget about pieces, and to get rid of some pieces that I know I definitely wont be wearing again. I always sell to local consignment stores, and donate the remaining items that don't make cut....a great way for a little extra cash and frees up space in my closet. Below are a few tips that will help reinvent your closet for fall!

1. group clothes by category...pants,dresses, skirts, tunics, etc...

2. get that sweater ball remover out and use it! it always calms my nerves and really makes the garment look new again!

3. look for purples, this color is so popular this season and is a great alternative to black!

4. feel crafty? heat seal some studs or rhinestones to an long-sleeve thermal top!

5. add a brooch to your coat...or a silk scarf to your handbag.

6. layer, layer, layer! and not just your tops, but also with tights and leggings, try wearing fishnets over your leggings kinda feisty but fun!

7. have fun! don't think that you have to go out and get a whole new wardrobe because the season changed...tempting, I know but not practical.

Do not forget about accessories, hair and makeup! These three things will always make or break an outfit....but above all stay true to yourself:)

on the road again

One wants to be comfortable, cute, and functional.....I decided upon the seasons must haves of leggings, tall boots, and a slouchy tee topped off with a 'hot' pink scarf. Piperlime is an outstanding on-line retailer that carries a wide array of footwear and recently they have expanded into carring apparrel! My favorite place to get the quintessential scarf is at the Ceasars forum shops in Vegas.....I finally found a sure thing in Vegas and it is these $10 scarves that come in every color you could think of. Make sure to check out this kiosk if your feeling lucky in Las Vegas! Now for the souchy tee, I have recently been turning to Pink by Victoria Secret. These tee's are soft and comfortable, but above all they are a great price for the quality....no complaints:) Leggings can be tricky so I normally go up in a size so I avoid the oh' so lovely muffin top! It happens to the best of us so try to get leggings that have wider waist band, and aren't cotton (tends to stretch out). Whatever you do makes sure the fit is perfect so you avoid pulling the suckers up every 5 seconds...that is not cute and not functional. Today I am wearing LuLu Lemon athletic leggings, they are a great fit and very comfy. So on your next road trip remember that one can be cute, comfortable and functional all at the same time!

Falling for Lulu's

Recently I have come across an on-line retailer that I absolutely LOVE...Lulus.com! This site is amazing, they carry all of the great trendy pieces that we see in the magazines for fractions of the price. Lulu's allows for all of the fashionista's to purchase similar trends that we are seeing and loving on the A-list celebrities that will not, I repeat will not cost a small fortune. I first discovered Lulu's as I endlessly flipped though a gossip magazine. Yes, I read them and Yes, it is to only look at the clothes....I swear. The magazine was proving the great handbags can be purchased for under $50 and there is where I found her...lulus.com. I quickly went straight to my computer to check this site out and was pleasantly surprised it was located in the nor cal town of Chico, CA ( my new home)! So this is for all of you that sometime lose hope that they won't ever be able to work in fashion unless it is at the local mall...scour and look for the diamonds in the rough and maybe, just maybe you will come across something that you never dreamed possible a "lulus.com "in your own backyard.

filling the GAP

"Introducing America's best fitting premium jeans" Loving this new 1969 denim line by GAP! Also, loving the marketing that is behind it! With a great fitting jean under $100, a denim lover could not possibly resist trying a pair of these on. With wide range of different fits everyone will be able to find there best fitting jean. Personally I am a fan of the "always skinny" but also tried the "real straight" and loved those as well! I like my jeans tight, but that doesn't always mean uncomfortable and GAP got it right with super soft denim that doesn't stretch out by the end of the day! As the tag line states this new denim line is definitely filling the gap between those $200 designer jeans that I oh so love, but are oh so expensive.

Loving these jeans, and really loving the $59.50 price tag!

day GLO

NEON is big in a bright way. Top designers were seen on the runway with tons of day-glo pieces! One of course would suspect Marc Jacobs to be one of those designers, but don't count out Michael Kors! This jeans and t-shirt designer had some amazing day-glo pieces, I especially loved his neon trenches. Make sure not to over do it on this, or you could end up looking like early 90's nightmare...yikes. Pair with neutral colors and don't go over the top with your accessories. This look is meant to be fun, not a punch in the face:)

Plaids and Stripes 'oh my'

Marc by Marc Jacobs does it again for NYFW (New York Fashion Week)! How does this man dream this stuff up, and make it work. This season of Marc is not for the faint at heart, mixing bold prints with bold "Minne Mouse" inspired bows. Simply, genius and never under stated. This 80's inspired collection is more refined with modern shapes that no doubt appeal to fashion risk takers! Don't be surprised to see some grungy plaid for Spring...it's been making a comeback.

FREEPEOPLE

Hi, I just had to mention how amazing Freepeople's fall looks are! I'm basically drooling over too many pieces to mention! About two year's ago I bought a really amazing black sheer sleeved empire dress that had the most adorable print on it, and to my surprise there is a similar, yet different, dress that I must find a way to purchase! I only find myself wanting this dress more and more, because I have worn the other for so many occasions and I know that this would be comparable in wearability....of course I would choose the non-black option which happens to be my favorite color.....emerald city green!!! For all of you that may be interested in taking a peak at the new arrivals just click on the FREEPEOPLE title at the bottom of this page and find yourself in the beauty:)

Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2010

Can you believe that another season is launching. The Charlotte Ronson show showed a palette of muted colors with interesting ruched leggings and short combinations. This show was different from past collections with more emphasis on the clothes rather than eccentric 'accessories'. One of my all-time favorite Project Runway winners, Christian Siriano also began his show with pale pinks and nudes and exploded with teals, smokey ash, sea-foam green, and ended with a beautiful burnt orange/gold gown! AMAZING! I love fashion week and all the creativity that I know is just floating in the air within those tents. I hope to someday attend one of these shows, and don't forget about the unforgettable after parties.

I think I can

This blog is all about a girl with dreams of living the fashionista lifestyle without having the $$$$ to do so. My current state of unemployment has lead me to put my passions for following trends and shopping on hold. While I maintain flipping through Vogue, Harper's, In Style, lucky and many others I have been unable to actually shop. As many of you are going through this same predicament I hope that by expressing myself through this blog will help release some of your pent up grief as well....
